IFLA Symposium on Artificial Intelligence 2026

IFLA Symposium on Artificial Intelligence 2026

About the Symposium

Theme:Building an AI-Empowered World: Practical/Real-World Applications of AI

Date: 09–13 November 2026

Venue: To Be Confirmed

Libraries are at the crossroads of information stewardship and emerging technology. As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes how we discover, curate, and deliver knowledge, librarians worldwide are experimenting with real-world AI solutions that enhance services, improve accessibility, and deepen community engagement.

This Symposium explores the synergy between building an intelligent future in advancing human creativity using artificial intelligence, and envisioning how this partnership can accelerate innovation, knowledge and sustainable development across disciplines.

The University of the Free State, IFLA Information Technology Section and IFLA AI SIG, is hosting this event in collaboration with LIASA, National Library South Africa and University of Lesotho, on November 09-13, 2026.
