Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is dedicated to advancing women’s health through excellence in clinical care, education, and research. We deliver comprehensive, high-quality services to women at every stage of life across the Free State Province, Lesotho and beyond, with a strong focus on improving maternal and child morbidity and mortality outcomes. Our services encompass both preventive and curative care. Through an integrated approach to women’s health, our department plays a pivotal role in strengthening obstetric and gynaecological services throughout the region.

Our clinical and academic programme is built on a broad, integrated platform of specialist care, including general obstetrics and gynaecology, Gynaecological Oncology, Reproductive Medicine, Family Planning, Maternal and Fetal Medicine, and Urogynaecology. Collectively, these areas enable the department to provide evidence-based, patient-centred care while advancing specialised training and innovation within the field.
